Abstract
Obstructive jaundice is a syndrome in which the outflow of bile
from the bile ducts is impaired as a result of their obstruction. With obstructive
jaundice, bile accumulates in the ducts: due to obstacles in its path, it does not enter
the duodenum and does not participate in digestion.
