Abstract
This paper explores the dynamic intersection of tradition and innovation in
contemporary Uzbek art, focusing on the integration of historical and cultural
motifs into modern artistic practices. It examines how contemporary Uzbek artists
draw upon traditional elements such as suzani embroidery, miniature painting,
ceramics, and architectural patterns, reinterpreting them through modern media and
conceptual frameworks. Through an analysis of selected works, the study
highlights the role of cultural heritage as both inspiration and identity in post-
Soviet Uzbekistan’s evolving art scene. It also considers the sociopolitical and
cultural implications of this fusion, showcasing how modern Uzbek art serves as a
bridge between the past and present, preserving national identity while engaging
with global artistic trends.
