Abstract

This research examines the structural characteristics of railway terminology
formation through a comparative study of English and Uzbek. It emphasizes the
importance of terminology in linguistic and cognitive sciences, particularly in
specialized fields like railways, where precision and clarity are critical. The study
explores the evolution of terminology as a scientific discipline, delving into methods
such as semantic, morphological, and syntactic approaches to term formation.
Through comparative analysis, the research highlights differences in term formation
influenced by linguistic structures—English favoring prefixes and compounding,
and Uzbek relying on suffixation and transliteration. The findings underline the
necessity of standardizing multilingual terminology for effective international
communication.
