Abstract
This thesis analyzes the story "The Last Lesson" by the French writer
Alphonse Daudet. The writer illuminates the issues of love for the native language,
national pride, and spiritual awakening in the story. In this work, the author fully
illuminates how sacred a one-hour lesson is and how a country's freedom or
dependence affects the change in its language. This work has a tremendous impact
not only on the French but also on the citizens of every country in the world that
has its own native language.
