Abstract

This article explores the etymology of modern English
vocabulary, examining the various ways in which the English language has evolved
and grown over time. Through the study of borrowed words, hybrid words shifted
meanings and invented words, we gain a deeper understanding of the complexity and
richness of the English language. This study is not only important for linguists but
also for language learners, as it can help learners remember and retain new vocabulary
and make connections between English and other languages.
